We started the Club’s social season with a visit to Halifax Piece Hall along with Castleton WI. We are now moving on with a total of 10 potential events planned. The outings combine car, coach and shanks’s pony and details will be announced to members as the summer months progress. The first three are as follows:-
1. Easter Sunday, 1st April.
Crich Tramway museum are having one of their very popular theme events, this one being described as the “Home Front” which I think means the 2nd world war. The best way there is by car but be warned it is very busy. We are not suggesting group visits since individual arrangements are more suitable. There are many photo opportunities with look alike Winston Churchills etc. and indeed a recommended day out including being suitable for children. Take a picnic!
2. Thursday 19th April
Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet.Sheffield. Postcode for your Sat Nav is: S7 2QW Open from 10.00 am with car parking on site. Mid week chosen since it should be less crowded, to enable hassle free photography. Ray visited recently and found it very interesting. Tripod will be advantageous for the indoor shots. There is an admission charge together with cafe for coffee and snacks. Please advise Ray Fowler if you are going to attend this event.
3. Saturday 19th May
The Peaks Tour cycle event is being held in the area at a very early hour. The Winnats Pass is being closed off between 0745 and 0945 am. Early risers needed. This should prove a good opportunity for action shots and there should not be a problem parking at this time. Recommend travel out of Castleton along Buxton Road and continue towards Treak Cliff Cavern with free parking available in the road. Ian Stanyon is our cycling expert if you need detailed information.
