In memory of Kate Brown LRPS DPAGB

Members will know that Kate lost her long battle with cancer on 20th November 2020. Leaving her husband Keith, along with her two sons Alex & Sam – who were all at Kate’s bedside. Keith has asked me to display some of Kates’s favourite photographs. But first I would like to display a photo of Kate with her beloved husband Keith. Taken in January 2017, whilst Kate was recovering from surgery and chemotherapy.

Kate helped Keith to produce this montage of the Valley Care ladies and friends saying hello during their “Sparkle Walk” , raising funds for Ashgate Hospicecare – 19th Sept 2020

Kate loved photography, so it’s fitting that I display the panel of images Kate presented to the Royal Photographic Society on 17th May 2009. When Kate’s work led to her admission as a ‘Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society’

During lockdown The Rt Revd Libby Lane, Bishop of Derby, awarded Kate a Bishop’s Badge, in recognition of Kate’s work in mission and ministry within the Diocese of Derby.

Many of Kate’s family and friends, including many from C&HVPS visited Green Lane cemetery on a beautiful sunny day on July 17th 2021 to receive a blessing from the vicar of S Peter’s, as Kate’s ashes were buried in shaded plot. Kate’s husband Keith has worked so hard to make this a fantastic memorial day for Kate.

Then friends and family celebrated the life of Kate in a number of individual services at St Peter’s. Each service followed by two AV’s: the first being an amalgam of words and images prepared by both Kate and Keith, with the second being a humorous AV, entitled ‘Beep Beep’. As the vicar said that it had been Kate’s wish that everyone left these services with smiles on their faces. Keith, Kate must be so proud of the time and work you’ve put into celebrating Kate’s life with her ‘special day’.
